Dimensions: 4 ft (wide) × 8 ft (tall) with four equally spaced shelves. The unit is designed to rest securely against a wall or other fixed surface, blending high-end materials with precision craftsmanship and signature design.

Wood Species: North American Maple

1. Back Board: Quantity 1; ¾″ thick sheet of plywood with North American Maple hardwood veneer. 

2. Solid Wood (North American Maple) Shelf Lumber: Quantity 4; 1″ × 10” (thickness x width measurement) boards, each 4 ft in length.

3. Hardware: stainless-steel accoutrements & fasteners to secure shelves. 

4. Sealant: Premium clear coatings for long-term protection and enhanced grain depth; available in matte, satin, or gloss. 

Historical Background, Concept & Inspiration 

The “Klinai” was a type of furniture utilized by the ancient Greeks in their symposia when  gathered for music, dancing and conversation. The Klinai was far more complex than an simplistic piece; rather, it was a central icon of elite social life, comfort, and cultural identity. Moreover, it was a material luxury made of fine woods. Aesthetically and culturally significant, the mobile piece of art displayed the household’s sophistication; and beyond that, it was a literary and philosophical symbol — the ideal setting for the birth of ideas. 

Transcending history and time, Modern Klinai is beyond the art realm in that is the representation of a “feeling.” It resonates different with each user, and what the individual aims to evoke.
